    Default Remap and smoke

    Hi,
I have recently had my 150 cdti remapped and I am now getting quite a bit of black sooty smoke on hard acceleration or heavy load.
Is this normal? Or should I be worrying?

    Thanks

More normal after a remap. They kick a fair bit out as standard.

    Who did the remap?

You will get a little more soot as the motor over fuels, but excessive sooting could be down to a boost leak.

Black smoke means that your engine is no longer capable of combusting the fuel efficiently (more fuel consumption for no additional power). Either there is an induction fault or (most likely) the remapper got too enthusiastic with certain parameters that they altered.

Check for boost leaks, and check you EGR is sealing fully. My inlet flaps were leaking badly and the EGR valve spring didn't have enough guts to seal.

EGR sits top right of the engine (if you look at the engine when standing infront of it).

If you haven't got a flat spot m8 I would leave it - it seems to be working.
