    Default 120 vs 150

Hi, am I right in thinking this is just a remap to get the extra 30 bhp?

    Or are there mechanical differences?

120 needs a remap from the word go to liberate more low end torque, feels too underpowered. Always having to stir the gearstick and 6th is waaaaay too tall; 90mph = 2500 rpm, great for economy when cruising, but lousy for overtaking. On the motorway, that 6th gear blunts the performance too much, always find myself dropping into 5th or even 4th to get the thing lit, unlike my old 2.2 that will sit in 5th all day and scare much more powerfull ( on paper ) machines.

When it works of course, which it now does! I cant wait to get it back and get out of the 1.9 to be honest. Only thing I'll miss is the economy, but mine shouldn't be too far away now it's all sorted!

for the vecs, 8v=120, 16v=150, quite different engines. but....

in the new astra (h) they were all 16v with only a different map to start with, but now they are the same as the vecs. Thurlby bought the 120bhp 16v astra and tuned it to 200bhp to create the 888 that CDTi has.

hope that aids any confusion!! lol

    Adds to more mate

My Astra 888 is based on the 150bhp SRi engine due to the change. The first 20 888s were the 120bhp and the rest are 150bhp

I think mine was based on a half day Friday job! Still it's been good recently and she kicks out some great figures. Clutch sliped again acouple of times though; after "comparing" mine agains Harry's 3.0ltr I turned the box up and suprise, suprise, the clutch had a fit. It can manage level 5 on my tunit no problem and level 6 almost always but any higher and the torque its too much. Level 6 got me 354lbft in the heat at PVS, so god knows what level 8 would do (which it will run on in these temps).

I allus wondered that too - but then I should have guessed it, as the 1.9 I had was happy to rev its kn*ckers off (went well too) most times.....

I miss the economy too, but I prefer the rumble of the v6
