    Default Colour coding

    Hi,

I own a silver vectra 1.9 CDTI 150 Club but it does not have colour coded door handles, side skirts and rear valance as seen on the SRI etc.

I am trying to find out if anyone has done this visual mod to their car and how difficult it is to get hold of the parts and remove old / fit new parts - especially the door handles.

Would also be looking to change the window trim along the side of the car for the one with the chrome strip in it.

    I would appreciate any comments.

    Thanks,

    Richy.

all of the above is simple to do . ebay or scrap yards are the place to look .
some ppl get them sprayed ...all depends if you know of a very good cheap sprayer
if you get stuck there are always members willing to help and advise

The door handles are probibly the easiest ......5 min job to replace.

    Thanks Soulman.

    Thanks for getting back quick.

I know a good cheap sprayer so I might have a word with him about it. I need to speak to him about something else as someone bumped the back of my car (not too badly but enough to split the paint on top of the bumper and leaves a couple of scrapes) and drove off :-(

Might be a good idea to get it all done together.

Do you know if there's a How2 for removal & re-fit of any / all of these parts?

Is this something you have done? (Had them sprayed or changed)

I just did my door handles, picked a set up off ebay for £5 and painted them myself and were really easy to change. There is a How2 on how to change them.

    Thanks DasArab.

I'll have a look about to find it and might have a go.

At the moment, all door handles, side skirts and rear valance are bluck but the car itself is silver.

I've got the right engine, just thinking these couple of changes would smarter the car up a bit.

Just thinking a bit more, is it possible to change the front valance too or do people leave this black due to it scuffing on kerbs etc?

Yea definatly makes a difference RichyA. Will defiantly get round to doing the skirts and rear valance at some point too.
Keep your eye on ebay for the like of the side skirts and etc. Im assuming your car is Star Silver, which must be the most popular Vec colour, so prepainted stuff is easily obtainable.

I'm not sure what silver it is? It's just silver to me lol.

It looks to be the standard silver so, if you say that's Star Silver, then mine is prob Star Silver.

Am going to keep my eye out for the bits on the internet (mainly eBay) and may try a few local scrap yards to see if they have a silver SRI in that's had a front end prang.

Are the side skirts, rear valance and door handles only colour coded on the SRi or are they colour coded on other models (like the elite, elegance, SXi, etc.) too?
