Default Can you simply run a cdti 150 with the egr sensor unclipped??

Right, ive been having some power issues with my newly bought cdti 150 were ive had crap power and loads of boost divert up untill 3000rpm.
I just run the car with egr valve unplugged and i drove completely different! Buy this i mean it now has gained about 60bhp lol
All the hissing under excelaration has gone and its just direct power as soon as you touch the pedal.
When i bought the car , the valve was unplugged and now i see why!
Is there any issues with driving without the egr valve connected to the sensor plug??
Cos if not, id be happy to keep it the way it is right now lol

The previous owner kindly removed the bulb from the engine management light as to cover this problem so atm i have no dash warnings with the plug unclipped!! Just wondered if there was any reason why this was a bad idea as ived noticed that others have blanked the egr off inside somehow and not just unclipped it as i have done..
    cheers rich

You cannot remove the bulb from the engine management light as its a soldered on led.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Ok!! thats interesting! so how is it that my one doesnt work at all then?? I was thinking that seeing as the egr is unplugged i would of had a warning light on the dash!
Also when i had the bust wiring on injector 4 i called out the AA and the tech said the management light was not functioning and had prob been dealt with to stop it iluminating..
I do know that the prev owner said it had been remapped!
Could it be that the remapp knocks of the management light??

I did the same on the CDTI 150 and with the plug unplugged the cars performance was awesome. It brought up the EML but I lived with it for a short time.

Then I spoke to some mechanic from VX 888 Racing and he said that by unplugging it all the other sensors in the car were working overtime to compensate for the loss in the circuit of the EGR, hence meaning they would cause other problems.

I dont know what truth there was in what I said but I chose not to take a chance and in the end a brand new EGR valve was fitted by Vx and this resolved the problem.

But as for the bulb, now thats a mystery!!

    Bye bye Vec B
