Default Some people make me chuckle

I was in Evans Halshaw today minding my own, when an identical looking facelift SRi pulled in and reversed into the spot next to me, I was nose in so we ended up drivers door to drivers door.

Said gent exits car and goes off for a wander, I am on my phone after a few mins as I am finishing he returns and gets in, I then get out. He then made a very intentional ploy of starting his V6 up and making me painfully aware by revving it it was indeed a 3.0CDTi and not a 1.9,,,,,,,,,

Made me chuckle the V6 sounds amazing but without a lifetime warranty I think not very sadly

but the V6 isn't much of a problem child as the 1.9 so a lifetime warranty wouldn't be as necessary.

I find it rather sad when people have to resort to the "mine's bigger than yours" routine. Off hand I don't think there's a great deal in the figures between the two, though I think a V6 owner said mid range they're better?
So much depends on tyres, driver ability, road etc, the ability to sit on car park or at lights and rev it up doesn't mean a lot.

You should have feigned still being on the phone and in a very loud voice said, "........no mate, I'm at Evans Halshaw just about to pick up my new Insignia VXR....."

DON'T SAY THAT!! I'd love to swap mine for a V6 diesel so saying they sound good makes it worse!!!

And unfortunately - if I did have one I'd rev a little bit so you knew it

I've had everything go wrong with my standard 1.9 150, I could do with a liftime warranty on that. I would take a V6 diesel anyday - no tuning no issues imo. Definitely sure as the V6 doesn't have the issues the 1.9 has in the Vec - don't know why.

On the Saab boards the V6 lasts about 60K then drops liners, overheats, or generally misbehaves, I know the 1.9 has issues but they are mainly the three common ones EGR, swirl valve/ inlet, and DMF.

I would have loved a V6 myself but feel that the issues seen were worse than the 1.9 but hey ho, I own it now,,,,
