    Default V6 Dealer Remap

I had noticed that the newer V6's have a slight increase in torque and power as standard (177 to 184bhp and 273 to 295 torque).I was wondering how this had been achieved.I would imagine that it would be by means of a remap. If so,would a dealer,if asked, download the new map or would it have already been done at a recent service?

    Thanks for any help.

They couldn`t do it at a service without telling you as there would be insurance issues changing the power output without informing them, dunno if it is just a map though, could well be ..

Be very carefull when getting delaers to put in the latest version of the software, it has happened on some cars that the newer map is nto as good, it happened on the last 125PS Astra 1.8, Vauxhall re-stricted the cars sligtly to get past emmisions.

So not always good practice. But speak to the dealers first.

    Is yours a pre-facelift car,if so,that's a mighty impressive figure for a standard car.

    What was the torque figure?

Yes, my old 2.2 Direct went in to have a fuel pump changed (spanner light came on). Anyway I'm sure the Vx garage did something because it never ran as well as it did on Optimax. I've always put it in from new and it always ran great but after they did the work it never ran the same. Very lumpy and hestitant on acceleration with optimax. In fact 95Ron ran better.
