Default Cam belt change, do I get it done?

I am just about to get car serviced for it's 4th year so would be interested to hear what sort of prices people have paid but I have also been told that I need the Cam belt changed. It's only done 30k so not sure what to do.

It's a vectra 1.8vvti, thanks for the advice

After only 4 years and 30k, I wouldn't, unless you really want to. I certainly wouldn't wait until anywhere near VX recommendations though.

Waterpump not driven off the timing belt on a vvt so no need to get it changed and to be honest i'd be leaving the belt for the time being.
Didnt change mine till 107k so i'd confident you could run it to at least 50k.

Brake fluid maybe not a bad idea but i'd leave the coolant if it has the proper longlife red stuff, should be plenty of life in it yet.

Thanks very much for the advice, I will do that then, hopefully won't be as expensive as a I first thought then. Been quoted about £240 from Vx and a another local garage about £175 for a full service following the Vx chart but would have to pay on top for the brakes

    To change the fluid?

Yes, separate charge as not part of the fixed service price. Only cost me something like £25 or £30 for my local Vauxhall garage to do it though. Approx ¼ hrs labour and a couple of quid for the fluid.

Just picking myself up..just been told by Vx that the service will cost me £290 including the brake/clutch fluid change!! The other garage that told me £175 have now said £250 following the Vauxhall service plan.

I so wish I was a mechanic! Or is that a fair price? Perhaps I'm just tight!!
