Default Spanner Light Comes on For 1.5 Miles

    Hi All

Bit of an odd one this so I'm after advice please.
    1.9 CDti 55 Plate.

The other day I checked the oil on my car (dipstick out, wipe, back in and out to check level) nothing untoward in that other than. since then when my car has been stood for any length of time e.g. overnight or between arriving at work and going for lunch (4 hrs), I start the car and after approx 10 seconds the Car with the spanner light comes on, it is on for approx 1.5 miles and then it goes out and stays out. If I stop the car e.g. whilst having my lunch and start the car it doesn't come on.
There doesn't appear to be any loss of power or any other indication that there is a fault.
I have put my code reader on and it comes back as no codes.
As it doesn't seem to be affecting the car in any noticeable way I am at a loss as to what could be the matter. The manual says it is engine elctrics or transmisson fault indicator but it also says that if it lights briefly then it is of no significance. What would they class as briefly? Is 1.5 miles brief?
I have a long journey coming up on Thursday evening so the chances of getting it into a garage before then is pretty slim. Do you all think I am flapping over nothing.

Typical, I search the forum before posting with no real answer to my question, I then post a thread and the next thread I look at seems to have the answer.
    Just read this thread http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117583
It looks like it could be the glow plugs so I think I should be fine for a few days as there isn't any starting issues. I can do my Scotland journey and fit new plugs next week.

My reader is one of the cheap RAC readers from Halfrauds so would you think it may not be clever enough to spot the fault?
