Default EGR Fault Code - is this the problem?

    Hi guys,

Looking to pick someones brain with a little more knowledge than my own. My car (Z19DTH Vectra) has been suffering from the dreaded "no power until 2500rpm then boost" and "Limp mode" problems for a little while now. Reading all the threads i thought my swirl valves had gone and would need a new inlet manifold etc.

However, i had someone run Tech2 on it and the only faults it came up with were:

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected B-036
P2279 Intake Air System Leak Detected B-035

The guy who scanned it for me said it was likely my EGR is knackered and that this would be what was causing the problems

Does this sound right to you? Would a knackered EGR really cause my car to run so poorly? I have tried to clean it as it was really clogged up but if anything it has made it worse so I will look to get a new one if this is the problem.

Hope you can help with advise,

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Default

I had the same problem with mine about 5 months ago P0400 code. All the cleaning in the world by the AA man didn't sort it. Had the EGR valve replaced and all was good.

    Default

egr fault can make your car feel strangled as it gets caked with soot

so buy some carbcleaner and clean it really well ( follow how 2 ) making sure all gaskets are kept for putting it back togther. make sure its all tightened up properly otherwise you'll get exhaust leak from egr and reduced power

    also clean boost sensor.

and whilst your there check all boost hoses and intercooler hoses for splits / cracks
