Sorry to hear that mate. Its a lesson I learned years back when I walked up to some kids busy knicking my nice caps of my old Celica GT4.

I never put anything like that on my cars now as kids will have em and see nothing wrong in it.

*******s, I had 4 stolen off my golf, metal ones with blue vw logo. A week or so later walking back from the park with my daughter and my dog I stopped at the shop, outside were 3 bikes, 2 with nice metal dustcaps with blue vw logos! I waited and recognised the kids from the area. They gave them back then I gave them a challenge which involved a hill and more exercise for my dog .
Black plastics on the vec now.

if you fit chrome valve stem covers you can tighten the dust caps tight enough that kids cant get em off, not lost a set for about 4 yrs - although have caught kids trying. Last ones (outside Damons restaurant by Speke Airport, Liverpool) complained that they couldn't even get them off anyway so why was i so pi55ed off ...

And i do carry enough tools to remove them myself should i need a bit of air.

I bought aluminium dust caps that welded themselves to the valve so tightly that a tyre fitter had a hell of a job getting them off. lol

with aluminium type caps (and all metal ones really) you should put some grease inside the cap before fitting. I use a squirt of the excellent 3m lithium grease. I found out the hard way when i had to hacksaw off my caps once.
