    Default Help with the wife's car

    Hi All I have a 1.9 vectra and the boss has a corsa
    I am going to have to fit a new cam chain / tensioner etc to the corsa can anyone tell me what kind of job it is and will i need any special tools to do the job ?ie cam locking pins
    The car is a 1000cc 3cylinder 1998 vintage corsa B

    Not done one of these.
    Job timed at 4.4hrs non AC. 5.2hrs with AC, so cant be fun.....(its only 2.1hrs on a CDTI 8v and 2.4hrs on the 16v)
    Autodata lists 4 special tools. Cam locking pin, crank locking pin Camshaft position setting tool and a timing chain tensioner locking tool.

    yes their is full locking set with a lock for the cams, another for the sensor pick up and a crank pin

    2.1 hrs for a cdti 8v??? Who's doing that?? Stevie Wonder?? 40 mins easy with a fag break.
    Back on topic, why are you changing the chain?? If I were you I'd just change the tensioner plunger first as they work on oil pressure and can get crudded up, Its only a half hour job rather than 4 hours to change the chain.

    Agree on timings; took timings from Autodata as a comparison
