    Default Alarm advice wanted

after the recent break in of my car i want a alarm fitted
the only trouble is the police said that the theiving scroats that broke into my car had cloned my key. there are only a few alarm systems on the market that work with the canbus system and work from the keyfob ie so when you lock the car with the keyfob it arms the alarm. the worry i have is if i have this fitted that this clone key could be used again to get into the car
    what do you guys suggest

Take it to VX and get them to recode the whole system to delete any old keys. I am assuming they don't have an actual physical copy (an actual metal key)

I think you can remove the old key's code from the system by using op-com or tech2, but the blade will still open the door (setting off the alarm) and disengage the steering lock. So maybe new door, boot and ignition locks will be the safest action.

in my previous thread i explained that when i found the car both front windows were down the car was unlocked and the passenger front door was open so im just assuming and the police that they just used a cloned remote and not a key
im having to wait to hear from the insurers to find out if they will pay to have the old keys deleted and new ones made and coded
but im really worried about this clone key because the stolen units are going to be replaced and i dont wanna get them restolen

there was something on telly the other month that theives have a new way of breaking into cars
when you press your lock button on your fob the theives jam the signal and prevent the fob from locking the doors,so you go away and think your car is locked and the theives wait till your gone then get into your car -no locks or alarms
the theives can buy the equipment on internet for cheap £££'s

i think dom littlewood done the tv bit on the 1 show

always make sure by looking that your car is locked after you press lock on your fob

The windows down suggest the open button was pressed and held so I agree with you Chris that it was cloned.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
