    Default alternator supplier

    any info on who does a good deal on an alternator for a 1.9 cdti facelift ,have checked with meter and only getting 11.6 volts at battery with engine running

    i had mine done at a place in slough fitted and 12 months warranty for 188 pounds inc vat .. if you can fit it your self i can ask how much it would bee with out fitting for you .. khalid

    Try www.startermotor-alternator.co.uk in Plymouth. Brand new unit for my 06 CDTI was £140+ delivery. No exchange needed. Seems fine so far although its only been on a few weeks. Came with years guarantee.

    alternator should put out around 14 volts at the battery with the engine running. Test across the battery terminals with a multimeter. I made up tester with an old smiths volt gauge and plug it into the cig lighter/aux power socket to check the output while driving.

    gona do a check tomoz just out of interest as im looking into another matter for another member with op-com.

    all done, 40 quid to the mechanic and 50 quid for the guy to repair the unit
