    confused Trouble changing fuel filter

Me and a mate tried to change my fuel filter at the weekend but could not for the life of us get the top off the filter housing, even using a really big set of grips.

Can anyone advise if there are any clips / fixings to undo prior to being able to remove the filter housing lid?

Also, a How2 would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

hehe, they are a PAIN, took me and chrisvectra to remove his, and we are not small blokes ..

Take the housing out and clamp it in a vice or workmate.

Then get a big set of oil filter pliers to remove the top..

There is a special tool for the job which I have - but TBH the above is just as good,

Was hoping it would be something I could do on the drive. Don't have access to a workstation with a vice :-(

Only other option is to take it back and wait for my service which is due in around 7 or 8 weeks I guess.

If you have two people and one can hold and the other can turn the lid - you can do it.

I did mine at the weekend with the father in-law.

I stood on the filter housing while father in-law put a screw driver against the raised edges on the lid and gently tapped with a hammer. The sudden jerk loosens the lid eventually.

Make sure when you tighten the lid back up you don't get the new rubber ring stuck in a thread so it doesn't seat properly. Diesel all over drive etc!
