    Unhappy Amp & Subs

Iv recently sold my astra which had a 3000watt amplifer in the boot, 2 subs and 2 6x9s and it sounded amazing.

Iv just put this in my vectra and it doesnt even sound good. no bass at all compaired to in the astra.

Have you got any ideas why this could be or how i could get it sorted.

All i can think is that my old headunit was a cd player at 50x4w and my new ones is a double din dvd/cd player at 45x4w but could this really make that much difference. Any help would be great. Thanks alot

Different cars have different interior acoustics, as you're using a different head unit have you tried adjusting the amps gain controls? Does the amp just run the sub? Need more details of the system, makes, models, what runs what etc.

I have had a lot of trouble getting mine to sound right. The Vectra is a long car and a sub in the boot and 6x9s at the back are just too far away to sound good. I ended up custom mounting 8" units in the front doors to bring the bass forward.

I have messed around with mine for 3 years now. Whilst everyone else, friends etc said it was amazing I was never happy...

yes i fell the same. I have a theloudest.com 3000watt 4 channel amplifier and run 2 1200watt subs of it and 2 500watt eact 6x9s. the exact same as it was in the astra. When i look at the subwoofers they just dont seem to jump out as much if you know what i mean. And if you are outside the car you can hear loads of music very loud.. just not the bass what i want to be loud.

I have tried changing the gain setting on the amp and will try again later.

    Thanks

Sounds like you might need to fit some sound deadening to the inside of the panels to reduce noise outside the car and keep it inside...

Are you sure you've got all your speaker wiring in phase correctly? (positive to positive, negative to negative etc).

The symptoms you're describing sounds like out of phase subs to me which effectively try to cancel each other out and thus deaden's the sound coming from them.

Ill try again but yeah it possitive to possitive.. ill change the wires around to see if it makes any difference. becuase the right one does seem more powerfull then the left one. even though they are the same subs and running of the same amp. Its just they dont boom out any more. Just seem like not enough power :/

Just checked an yes they are all inphase with each other. The amp got hot after about 10 minute drive is it suppost to do this as iv never felt it before. The bass is just nowhere near as good as I used to have. All I can think is it's the DVD player or the amp has gone crap lol
