    Question crunching noise under braking

Being a newbie at this, wonder if someone can give me some advice?

I recently noticed an intermittant ticking?clicking noise sometimes coming from the wheels of my 2008 1.9cdti vectra. This would stop as soon as I touched the brakes. It sounded as though something was loose and I had a quick look but everything seemed fine to me - but to be honest I'm no expert....

I now appear to have a crunching or grating noise when I brake hard. It doesn't do it under normal gentle braking, only when I push the pedal a little harder. At first I thought it was worn brake pads, but on close inspection all the discs and pads look fine, and in any case it had a main dealer full service 8 weeks ago.

Anyone have an idea what it could be?

Spoke to the dealer today who informed me that he thought it would be discs/pads......and (of course) they are NOT covered by warranty. Thought that should have been reported when they lifted £268 off me for the full service 8 weeks ago.......got a bad feeling about this.
Will report what happens on Friday when I take it into the shop.

I have the exact same click since I changed my pads for aftermarket ones. Swopped the retaining springs around but the same side is still clicking. I imagine that the pad is too small for the seat and moves slightly under braking causing the click.
Brake pads are very expensive but pads and discs together are not. Ask about the price difference when you put it in. or change the pads yourself.

Had new pads and discs on the back end. Total cost of £207. The old ones were grooved and worn on one side - could have been caused by a sitcking pad apparantly.

All good now, but I'm shocked that a 2 year old car can have such problems.
