Just plugged the vec in as I had a very brief "flash" of the car/spanner on the first start up this morning and got the above code/description.
The car/spanner did NOT stay illuminated and the car is running fine.
Anybody got any ideas???

P0340 is camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction.
If the car is operating normally, then don't really worry about it for now. May just be a glitch.
If it happens again, then check the plug for good connection.
I know all about this fault code for my car......
What engine is it?
Its the 1.9cdti 150 bhp, think the engine code is z19 DTH, and its a 56 plate estate (design)
Where should i look for the "plug", I have no idea where the cam shaft sensor is!!
I have had the cam belt/kit done at 82k, 18k early if that helps any!!
also, it has flashed up once before, the morning after I changed the glow plugs.....if that makes any difference
I knew you had a 150 when i read your post!!, the sensor wires are just bellow my finger!, I'm actually pointing out the cam timing bung, but you can see the sensor wire & another, I've cut the original tie & pulled some 'slack' up towards the sensor, i had this fault a dozen times & it turned out to be a tight wire pulling & causing a dodgy connection. hope yours is as simple, .
That kind of makes sense mate, as recently, when i removed my plastic engine cover, i did notice some signs of rubbing on its underside from around that area. almost as though i have fitted it slightly wrong and its pressing on some wires.
Thanks a lot for that, i'll check it out later
