Default Dvd headunit, wiring to battery!!!

Hi guys jus after bit of help, this guy is trying to sell me a pioneer 7" double din screen deck, but he says on the vectra you have to feed a cable through glove box etc and connect on battery perminantly to get sufficiant power to the deck as the cars standard deck the cd30 doesnt need as much watts or something. Because of this the buttons on the dvd deck when fitted are permanatly lit up! This dont sound right to me and sound like alot of hassle, is this rite or is it a faulty unit or something??? Thanks

The Constant power comes off the HU loom but you need to take an Ignition live from the ciggy lighter. This will mean the lights will go off when the keys are out of the ignition.

No mate its easy, your HU will have two power wires, one yellow and one red. One is the constant wire that keeps the memory in the HU and one is an ignition power. What the guy has told you is to turn them both into constant power. All you do is take the ignition power from the bottom of the ciggy lighter. If you look HERE you will see what I mean.

The other thing you might find is the red and yellow wires on the HU might need swapping over at the fuse holders, i've had to do this with a few VX's. Just follow the DVD player diagram and isolate the ignition live. If you want to make it tidy and don't want to cut wire's just get some wire, and Male and female blue electrical connectors and make a t piece to go in between the ciggy lighter plug and the ciggy lighter.

Hi sorry but need to clear this up, so... With any dvd headunit say fitted in the veccy c, there must be a wire running from the unit direct to the battery? In addition to all the usual harness plugs etc and connection points in the centre console hole where youve removed standard head unit, does this need to be done to get sufficient power to the more advanced dvd head unit or is this jus a rumor!? Any help of people thats already fitted doubledin dvd headunits greatly appretiated, ta
