    Default V6 Coolant loss, Help!

I recently experienced massive coolant loss when driving down a dual carriage way, i was giving it a bit of welly when all of a sudden, coolant symbol came on so i pulled over ASAP and lifted the bonnet to be greeted with lots of steam.

When i squeezed the large main radiator hose between battery and engine block i could hear a hissing noise. Anyway it appears i have traced the leak to a bolt, please see pictures.

The first picture is looking down between battery and engine, the second is looking at the right hand side of the engine in between the wiring looms. There is a bolt right next to what looks like some sort of sensor. It is from this bolt where the cooling escapes. When i tried to nip the bolt tight, it appears to have sheared off

Has anyone else experienced this. Is this bolt a Banjo bolt? Anyone know what i ask for at the dealers. I guess the Plenum chamber would have to come off to gain access. Please tell me it won't be anything major!

Yes, the pic was obviously taken before, now there is nothing there just a great big hole where coolant comes pumping out!

you'll have to drill out the remains. I wouldn't think its a banjo as there is no pipe/hose connected to it

I just don't understand why coolant would be gushing from the hole, what if thats a sensor just to the right of the picture and it was a banjo bolt to let the coolant pass over that??

it looks like the washer was used to seal it. Is that actually part of the cylinder head. I'm struggling to tell where it actually is

I think so, the main block is just in the background, but the piece of metal this bolt is in does look like the same casting. I haven't got the head of the bolt and once i drill out the remains i wont be able to tell waht went in there.

take the sensor out. i'm sure that is a temp sensor, you'll soon know when you take it out.

If it is, you should be able to find the correct bolt on the dealers comp

I Have taken some more pics to see if anyone can help identify the bolt i need. Def does seem liek a Banjo Bolt as i luckily found the sheared head of the bolt (in last picture) I really do hope that replacing the bolt will cure the leak.

It would appear that the sensor in the 3rd pic is some sort of temp sensor.

Does anyone have any idea what the dealers would charge for this, to gain access it would appear the plenum chamber would need to come off so surely labour shouldn't be far from a spark plug change?
