    Default CD70 Aux In fitted

Bar tech2/opcom session to activate the aux menu, I hopefully have all the ingredients for aux in.

Just wanted to share my idea for the location of the 3.5mm jack plug.

Had a good look round... iphone doesn't fit in the cup holder so didn't want it there. So that left 2 places... modify one of the switch blanks as other members have done or chuck it in the cubby hole. I opted for the cubby hole as the iphone sits there nicely anyway. So the next question is where to situate the jack socket. Could have gone for the factory cubby hole upgrade with built in 3.5mm jack space and then bought the cable to fit, but in the end I decided to drill through from the rear using a nicely prepared factory round indentation as a guide lol! This meant the hole was dead centre at the rear. I used a 5.5mm drill bit and then the Maplin sourced jack socket literally screwed into the hole directly and sat nice and flush. Thanks to a good choice of drill bit the socket sits very tightly in the hole without the need for the front ring to clamp it down.

So then I just found a short (10cm) stereo jack to jack extender and that connects from the socket to the iphone/mp3 player etc...

Anyway, you'll see what I mean from these pics. I think it looks OK and is quite practical!

    Very tidy!

Personally I would have put it to the 'side', just to make sure that the rest of the cubby hole can still be used (Not that anithing fits in there anyway lol!)

    Nice and stealthy

Is it possible to extend the leads and put them in the arm rest?

Yes. Some modern models already have the lead extented to near the handbrake.

the pics are big that's why i didn't upload them or put them straight on here! lol
i'll resize them in a bit...

i was thinking about putting the connector to one side, but the iphone slides in under it anyway so it's fine in the middle

i must admit i quite like the arm rest option. might see about moving it there!

Update... got the aux menu tech2'd tonight and then came home and soldered the connections to the jack socket properly. Note to self: scotchlocks are b*ll*cks - don't use them ever again!
Anyway, this is working a treat now and I'm chuffed to bits! Recommend this mod to anyone with a CD70!

Thanks very much to yysnet for a spot on job on adding the internal components needed for this on pre 2007 CD70s. Top chap and very helpful!

How easy was it to solder the parts as I saw on the thread that the parts are ****** small. Can I ask how expensive it cost to do the reprogramming? And who did you use since I'm based in midlands as well?
