EVENT DETAILS
NSRA Hot Rod Drags: 17/09/2010 - 19/09/2010
More than 200 show quality Street Rods and American Muscle Cars will be let loose in anger one more time for the 22nd annual NSRA Hot Rod Drags. Co-promoted by one of the oldest established clubs in the UK - National Street Rod Association, the event features three action packed days of street legal drag racing for pre ’73 high dollar hot rods and big block custom cars.
The 1950s was the cornerstone of drag racing and its events like the Hot Rod Drags and the NSRA’s Nostalgia Nationals in June which help recreate the golden days of the sport that we love so much.
Where else will you expect to find period flathead roadsters, 200 mph nitro injected supercharged altereds, GM powered coupes, Chevy powered Fiats, classic blown Willys Coupes and ground thumping dragsters all with unbridled horsepower and gleaming chrome.
Adding spice to the mix will be the Gasser Circus, featuring high riding 'doorslammer’ full bodied cars of the 40s, 50s and 60s, along with the Custom Car magazine supported Flathead Meltdown, where sidevalve engines still reign supreme and last, but no means least the Outlaw Anglia’s; a class dedicated to Dagenham’s finest sit up and beg Anglias, Populars, Prefects and Fordsons.
Within the nostalgia drag racing ranks expect to see the Wild Bunch; a class which runs front engined 'slingshot’ dragsters and altereds, where Jaguar straight sixes rub shoulders with Buick 'nailheads’ as well as all kinds of Fords, Chryslers and, of course, Chevrolet V8’s. The Outlaw Flat Four VW’s will be looking for some more wheels up action with there VW Gassers too.
There’s a Friday night Drive-In Movie theatre showing sixties drag racing films, a dusk rolling Cacklefest on Saturday plus fireworks and bands. There will be a full trade village selling everything from T-Shirts, books, DVDs, hot rod models and stickers plus the popular Rumble & Jumble where you can find that much sought after part to a complete hot rod!
