Default Should I or shouldn't I? Vectra SRI 1.9 cdti

Going to see a Vectra 1.9cdti 150bhp estate tomorrow on a 56 plate with 41k miles on it, it has the xp pack on it and it looks awesome. Its up at £7990 however I am hoping to negotiate

Can anybody advise how reliable these things are? I do a lot of motorway mileage so not really worried about the dpf, however I have heard things about the egr and suspension coils. I am not averse to stripping things down and cleaning them to keep the car running well so if anybody has a link to stripping the egr down then please post it. Also is it a good idea to put cleaner in with the fuel everynow and again?

    Thanks in advance

Buy 1 by all means but!, make sure it has a modified inlet manifold, and the clutch ain't rattling its t**s off!. test it well!!, going through all the gears at lots of different speeds, look for lack of power, spluttering jolting or any unusual power surges. broken front & back springs are common, but are cheap to replace. If you get a pig you'll be well p***ed off, But a good one will make you smile all day.

To be fair the 1.9CDTi engine is in alot of cars so your always going to get bad one's.

I bought my 1.9CDTi 150ps Signum Design about three years ago with 26k on the clock. A mate at the same time bought a 1.9CDTi 150ps Vectra Estate SRi with about 35k.

I've just had my 100k service and MOT and I've had my first advisory, the rear upper arms. I do about 95% motorway mileage and I've loved the car. I've averaged about 52mpg.

My mates is just on 70k. His rear arms need doing, he's also had his alternator fail, and he's been told his fly wheel is on its way. Until recently he did mainly town driving.

Personally I think his issue's are linked to the more town driving he does. So it depends where your driving your car I suppose.
