Default Got a few problems with the vectra!

    1.9 cdti 120 58 plate 7k mls.

1, On cold starts gives off blue smoke on start up? Valve stem seals surely not at this mileage?

2, Low speed hesitation 30 mph in 3rd up a slight hill a slight hesitation for a split second but happens now and again?

3,A knocking through steering column not severe but noticable been to dealers unable to fault some 2k mls back but has progresed a bit more, can deffo feel with engine off and rock steering like it's in column?

Any ideas welcome it's going back next week for them to check as it's got a 3 month warranty from buying it plus the vauxhall standard warranty.

    1. If the smoke is on immediate startup this is a diesel trait and almost all without a DPF will do this to some extent or other
    2. Could be a few things here but possibly even just the throttle lag if it is split second then goes away, does it do this in say second or fourth and with what frequency?
    3. can you be more specific as to location at your feet, at the base of the windscreen, is it much louder if you have the window down can you locate the position as it could be as others have said an ARB bush, a strut top mount, even a wishbone bush or tie rod.

Glad the dealer is going to check it out potentially go along on the test drive to point it out to them.

    Thanks for replys.

The smoke is blue id expect some black on imediate cold start.

The hicup is in 3rd at 30mph up a slight hill.

The knocking is not heard but felt and is a light knock happens on cornering aswell as straights, they have had it once before and replaced a buckled wheel and set up all 4x wheel alignment.

It's off in at 8 am tuesday good that they will have another look.

    What is the ARB bush?

Anti Roll Bar bush, they hold the Anti Roll Bar to the chassis, one either side.

knock on steering could just be the pinch bolt on the column- rack that needs a quick pull up !

I have a 2.0 dti and for the last year had problems with excessive smoking from exhaust, sluggish running especially in the lower gears and with excessive fuel consumption on short runs. I recently sent away for a so called power modification promising to boost bhp by 20% and reduce black smoke. The device cost £4 and was a simple electronic resistor inserting it on the air intake temperature terminal. The results where fantastic, great acceleration, greater fuel economy and no black smoke. It works like this, the computer read-out on the air intake is 39 C the device tricks the ecu to believing it's only 4 C therefore adjusting the ecu.

i used to sell similar devices on ebay (before i boycoted them!), only problem is on long runs, it can cause overheating but non of the boy racers i used to sell to seemed bothered lol! The ones i had however only used to work fully on NA petrols, didnt get much diff on a diesel, so yours is prob diff or a more complex device.
