I recently sent away for a so called power modification promising to boost bhp by 20% and reduce black smoke. The device cost £4 and was a simple electronic resistor inserting it on the air intake temperature terminal. The results where fantastic, great acceleration, greater fuel economy and no black smoke. It works like this, the computer read-out on the air intake is 39 C the device tricks the ecu to believing it's only 4 C therefore adjusting the ecu.
