    Default Masterfit Warranty or not?

My 57 reg 1.9cdti 160 is coming up to three years old in a couple of weeks of times. It's done 48k and so far been faultless. The Masterfit warranty is £329.00 for a year and gives the same cover as the car has now. do you think it's worth it???

I'll have to get the service done from them which is now due, not sure which one it will be, also will need a first time MOT. Not sure when the cambelt is due, hopefully not part of this service.

Options I have, spend a £150 odd to get an independent service and MOT and have no warranty, or get the Masterfit one which when including the service, MOT and warranty would be close to £600.00. I'd appreciate your views. Is Masterfit Vauxhall? seems hard to tell.

If it was me i won't bother but then again i don't have insurance on the washing machine or the freezer either, if it's a good car get a service and run it you can't just pay insurance forever on it can you?

The Masterfit warranty is yet another VX product

It is all about your view of risk
Are you likely to need it in the next 12 months?
Once a car is over 3 years old, then yes
Equally, if it broke down and needed a repair costing over £350 plus being without it for 7 to 14 days, what would you do?

Personally, the AA breakdown repair cover is better value for money
The down side is you MUST call them out
However, I was already aware one of my rear shock absorbers was at the end of its life
Their advice was to call out a breakdown, they would look at it, then book the car in
Indeed the policy has paid out

With the VX policy, you simply drive in to any VX outlet

    One final option
Ask the local VX dealership about "Complete Protection Plan"
This includes the cost of servicing and can be extended to include a warranty
    Available in 1, 2, 3, and 4 year packages
Not cheap though, but overall still works out cheaper than just the warranty on its own

Thanks for the info and I'll ask about "Complete Protection Plan" It's hard work trying to get a dealer to sell me one. Called three dealers and only one got back with £329 price and that's the last I heard after had a couple of questions.

I've heard diesels can give problems, but mines been fine, no issues in nearly 50k miles. Tough one as lot of differnce £150 to almost £600, but then I get the benifits of basically a new car, ie take it in if anything wrong and you get a loan car. On the other hand I brought a Suregaurd some time back for three yaers and never used it once... luck me I suppose!!

Anyone know when the cambelt should be changed?
