    Default CD500 or DVD800

Hi guys, I have been looking at a couple of insignias which have sat nav, one has a cd500 sat nav system and the other has a dvd800 sat nav system. Which system would be best to have, any info to any pros and cons of either system would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

The DVD800 is for sure the better system.

On top of the features you get with CD500, the DVD800 has european mapping is viewable at street level, and you also get the 'birds eye' or 3D view.

You can zoom in and out with the DVD system, and the points of interest are far advanced on the DVD800 and of course you can play MP3 on DVD which gives you more than MP3 on CD.

Not that people use MP3 on disc anymore!

Thought I'd add my tuppence worth, as just completed a 3day test drive of (admittedly) an Astra SRI, which had a CD500 in it - 2011MY. I believe the Astra implementation is identical to the Insignia.

I was very impressed with this model compared to my TomTom XL -
UK mapping, plus major roads of Europe.
    7 digit UK postcode search.
Lane guidance at Motorways and major roads - pic on screen plus speech.
Speaks the road number and motorway junction numbers.
Traffic updates and auto re-routing. traffic updates can be turned on even when Nav is not.
Can scale the map from 100yds to 10 miles + and stays there, with auto zoom to lowest setting at junctions.
Can either have map on full time, or switch back to radio/cd and the junctions pop up when you reach them, with speech updates for incidental items.
AND........... it plays DVD and CD MP3's!!

Cons, in my opinion were -
Some very strange routing choices offered.
Only 2D top down view, no 3D. however map colours were very clear.
Menu system is confusing and complex - guess this is the same for both models.
Buttons and knobs fiddly too - however in Insignia you get the additional controller knob, which isn't available in an Astra.
Wish the direction arrows appeared in the red display infront of the driver - didn't in the SRI Astra.
Wish at least one of the buttons on the steering wheel allowed you to navigate the interface, like I can do on the Vectra!

Overall very impressed. Also had the Bluetooth kit integrated into it, worked incredibly well with my Nokia E72 and call quality at both ends was great.
