    Default Stereo problem

Hi, new to this forum and new to the vectra c as ive only just bought my 2003 veccy sri.

Unfortunately the standard cd player wont work. The person i bought it from stated that he had a new body control moduel fitted and since then the stereo has not worked. It just says SAFE on the computer screen. Could this possibly mean the battery has been disconnected to fit the BCM meaning the stereo needs to be coded. Any help much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

You should have 4 digit code for the stereo. This code needs to be put in by yourself which is easy to do. You should have a car pass with the car which is a little card with the immobiliser code, radio code, key code on it. If you haven't got this, then you can order it from vauxhall for about £15.00. Sounds like the battery has been disconnected at some point which is why it's asking for a code. Security feature like most radios to stop someone stealing it and putting it in their motor

With it just saying (safe) as soon as you start the car, how do you enter the code in as none of the buttons seem to do anything?

IIRC, Turn on the ignition, but don't start the engine, turn off radio then press the AS button then whilst holding that button in, turn on the stereo and wait a few seconds. It should then beep and say something like 10 _ _ _ _ or 10 Safe, but you can enter the code by using the number buttons..keep pressing 1 for the 1st digit, press 2 for the second etc. DON'T TRY AND GUESS YOUR CODE, as it will increase the time you are allowed to enter the code and eventually it will lock it. Once the code is entered correctly, I think you press and hold the AS button again until it beeps and will go straight into radio mode

Default Safe Mode on cdr 2005 Veccy c 2003

Hi guys and Gals, first post on here so I hope this helps somebody.

I bought my Veccy with radio showing SAFE. As I had the car pass I followed all the advice and tried to enter code but it would only show "7 SAFE" and would note go to the CODE screen.
I tried several times leaving various intervals up to 30 minute from ignition on but it always stayed on 7 SAFE. I then ordered a new surround kit so that I could fit my PIONEER.

BLOW ME DOWN 12 hours later I got in the car, radio display came on as usual SAFE, so I just pressed AS and 7 SAFE came up as usual, drove down the road 10 minutes and got to the roundabout, glanced to my left and noticed display said 7 _ _ _ _ Quickly scurried into layby just in case the moment was lost, enterd code which was accepted immediately and YAHOO I GOT A RADIO THAT WORKS.

After 3 days of try try try again, I ignored all the advice and doomgivers who said " if it says 7Safe (or any other number come to that) then you should throw it in the bin" and i have a working, lovely sounding radio.

    HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE
