Default Spanner light on ignition - 3.2 V6.

Just noticed a small problem today. When I start my car, the spanner and car symbol lights up for a second and then goes away straight away. It doesn't stay on, the car drives like normal, no power loss etc.

What could this be? Don't want to take it to a dealer. Read that this might be a small problem detected by the ECU that isnt major in any way.

Some people suggest unplugging the battery for 30mins and seeing if the problem stays.

    Any suggestions?

That would be your glow-plugs mate..... Mine have needed changing for about 6mths now.

Till you change them, before you turn over the motor, flick into pos.2 maybe 2/3 times then start it up. Gives the plugs a chance to warm and limits more damage to them. HTH

if you have a petrol it is probably a little hiccup with the immobiliser and the spanner and car light should go off after 20 - 30 "cleans" starts, it happened to me a few weeks

The 3.2 doesn't have glow plugs as it isn't a diesel!!!!

Just means that a fault code has been stored, it should stop happening after 15 or so starts. If the light remains on or comes on when driving the you have a problem and need to get to a garage ASAP.
