    Default Strange

Hi all, have a strange problem in that whilst driving home from work the Car with the Spanner light came on and I appeared to loose power, limp mode I assume. I then pulled over, switched off the engine waited 30 secs, switched engine back on and continued on my merry way with no problems.

The following day it did the same again, but this time got it home and connected a fault code reader to the car but there are no fault codes logged.

Anyone have any idea why it would go into limp mode and show no fault codes?

    Thanks in advance

Looking at your profile you have a 1.9CDTI, it could be a glitch or it could be the 3rd injector plug issue or the manifold swirl valve problem.

If it the injector plug it will get worse until you upgrade plug that is. Think dealers are quoting anything from £50-£100. I had mine done for £45 but the quote I got from another garage before that was £98.

If it is due to the manifold issue then check to see if the swirl link has came off, if it hasn't check that the rod moves when the engine is revved past 2,500-3,000rpm. If it doesn't move at all then I would say this is probably the culprit.

In the meantime just keep an eye on it m8 no point in worrying.

Fuel pump on the 1.9's is very reliable - even with a box or a remap - in fact next to none of them go, no more than normal. Crank sensors can be a nuisance on any car. Fuel pumps, injectors and crank sensors aren't anymore of an issue on this engine than any other.

Thanks guys, thanks for all your replies, had a new one this morning the Starter Motor has jammed solid, tried to rock it out... no go. Could
this be anything to do with the no code problem?

Bought a new Starter for £120.00 which I didn't think was bad, considering
    a Stealer wanted £414.00

Will let you know how I get on once the new one is fitted.

I have never changed a high pressure pump or injectors on a 1.9. EGR valves, inlet manifolds and DMF's yes, but never pumps and injectors
