Default Vecta hatchback - annoying rattle from the rear

New member. Car is two years old, 20k miles. Just purchased. Empty boot. And ....

When driving slowly (30mph or less) something behind the rear seats is rattling/loose when I go over bumpy ground. Boot is firmly shut and I've checked all the plastic surrounds to the boot lid and boot and it seems fine. Partition seems fine too. I've even pushed the back of the car up and down whilst stationary and nothing.

Any idea what it might be? Hoping its something you all know about and its just me that hasn't worked out what it is yet.

    Regards
    James

Its the boot catch. It needs adjusting. You can do it easy enough. Just pull away the plastic trim at the back of the boot where the latch is and undo the two torx fixings and lower the catch a few mill and re tighten, shut boot. Job done.

I had this on my car and it drove me nuts for weeks before i found out what it was. I had the spare wheel out and everything.
Even though the boot seems firmly shut its not.

I had this on my last vec, adjusted the boot catch and that sorted it. Also may be worth checking the parcel shelf to make sure it's not knocking as you're driving along.

Unlikely. The car has only done 20k so will be on the original rear pads unless he bought it off Jenson Button.

it could be the parcel shelf fella as there are 2 rubber bits that are supposed to stick out a bit to sit flush on the tail gate. it could also be the rear tailgate lock. or the rear seats have not been locked in place properly or the centre seat seatbelt hasnt retracted properly causing a rattle ive had all these affect my car fella

WHAT!!!!! Do you drive round with the handbrake on. At the rate your going your going through rear pads quicker than rear tyres.

I get a rattle now and again, it's the 'catflap' access panel into the boot, maybe worth a look
