    Default Torque Wrench

I have found that I am starting to do more stuff on my car myself so I need to get myself some basic tools.

I already have a basic 1/4" socket set which has been fine.

But I could do with a torque wrench as I will be replacing one of my injectors in the near future and don't want to over-tighten the nuts.

Does anyone recommend a basic cheap torque wrench?
I don't seem to be able to find any 1/4" ones so I can utilise my existing bits.

    Thanks, Mark

They do a cheaper one but its 1/2" drive and the lowest setting is 28Nm.
For the injectors I need 25Nm

    Hi Mark,

From experience you'll also need a 1/2" drive set for the larger nuts / bolts because of the torque settings involved, I've sheared some smaller drives in the past attempting to undo thread locked bolts.

Halfrauds do quite a good range of tools, some are not bad quality either.

Cheers, I have looked in the past at what halfords do. Every now and then they do offers on the pro sets that look good but I always find that there is always one bit that that one kit has over another then I can't decide

1/4" Will only be usefull for stuff smaller than, say, 13mm or about 25Nm. 1/2" is good for things 20mm+/100Nm+, and 3/8 for things 10mm - 20mm, less than 100Nm.

If it were me I wodul get a 3/8" and a 1/2" socket set (in a nice plastic box!) and a 3/8" torque wrench - a basic tool set is never money wasted. N.B wheel nuts are 110Nm.
