Default mystery illness makes car v poorly

Hi all - new to this so bare with me. My vectra is v poorly at the mo - its misfiring when in gear although not when idling, its not the plugs, they've been checked and changed, its had a coil pack on it (which made it worse) and a new fuel filter. Has anyone got any ideas before this gets very expensive? Have also had it on the diagnostic computer as the engine management light is on - this doesn't pick up anything it just says 'code not recognised'. Really dont want to take it vauxhall as they are not very good here - but i will do if absolutely necessary. HELP!!?? any suggestions will be gratefully tried out!!

by any chance is it making a noise ? are u sure its a missfire? and not a judder/vibration? if it was a missfire it would be there on idle to, a faulty dmf would cause a judder u may be mistaking it for a miss fire, any ways change the fuel filter put redex in the tank and take it a good blast across the motorway see if that helps

That'll be your pump or reg mate. The Reg is covered under a recall but the pump isn't. If not done so get it into VX to have the Reg done under the recall, they should be able to tell you if the pumps gone. I take it you still have the Siemens pump not the new Continental one?

You can drive round fine when the hp pump is on the way out. Many find its only when you give it some pasty that the eml comes on. If its in its early stages of coarse.
