Couple of questions

My fascia panel should be coming tomorrow, the questions I have are;

I want to put my USB socket that connects to the stereo in one of the blanking plates above or below the hazard switch - whats the best way to cut it?? I want a neat cut because it's visible.

When I eventually pulled the CD30 out, it has like an extension on the wiring loom to the stereo - any ideas why & is it needed?? Im asking because of the cooling fan for the new radio needs air to breathe.
