    Default Astra G Cabrio

I fancy getting an Astra Cabrio, I drove one a few years back in Oz and from what I remember of it I really enjoyed it.

Have been googling them trying to find out what I can. The engines of choice appear to be 2.0 and 2.2.

There also seems to be a big difference on toys fitted aswell.

Has anyone owned one or currently owns one. Which is the better engine, what should I look for regarding trim level and spec.

Is there anything inherently wrong with them that make them a money pit.

    Advice and suggestions welcome

    Cheers

Yep, I have one. I have a '52' plate Linea Rossa 2.2 16v. It's only done 28000 miles. Mine is only used as a 3rd car and I love it to bits. in general terms the Astra G is pretty bullet proof. the 2.2 is not the direct version so doesn't suffer from the high pressure fuel pump proems that later Vectras suffer with

Avoid the 1.8 as it is under powered, the turbo is nice but to be honest they are of an age now where the chavs have got hold of the turbos and spoilt them so good ones are hard to find.

The 2.2 offers a real flexible powerband. When you have the top down you don't really want to drive really fast,I don't regret the 2.2 and since I reset the trip on the day I bought it back in June, it has averaged 30.1 mpg!

There are plenty of low mileage decent 2.2's. You want to get a Linea Rossa or an Edition 100. They are the highest spec. Have a search on here and you will find pics of mine.
