Unhappy Engine dead-after changing injectors - any ideas?

    Hi Guys,

I have a 1.9tid 150 engine. On saturday injectors 2 and 3 were changed for new ones and the others cleaned in a local garage. All was fine but then I drove about 30 miles and the EML came on but the car was still driving fine. Then this morning the EML was still on but it drove fine, until once I was on the motorway and while doing 120km/h the car gave a sharp jerk and all poor disappeared very very fast, the steering got very heavy and then all the light on the dash went out and the car was dead. I took the key out and gave it about 5 mins and started it again, it started fine and drove about 10 ft and the same happened again. So I had to get it towed back to the house and at mo the car won't start at all. When I turn the key the warning icons on the dash flash on and off and the speedo needle vibrates like mad. Its also has a new EGR and boost sensor fitted about 2 weeks back. i've owned it about 5 weeks now and never had a full weeks driving from it.

Anyone any ideas? Im so fed up of this car!

Has yours had the third injector wiring mod...?

As your injectors have been replaced the 3rd plug that is prone to breakdown may have given up?

sorry, silly but worth a shot, i think if you get new injectors you need to let the ECU know they've been changed somehow, don't think you can just swap them out without doing anything else. do you know if the garage would have done this?

maybe the original ones didn't go back into the right places as i don't even think you can swap them around if they've already been on the car.

you couldn't just swap one and four over for example, if you take them off, they have to go back exactly where they came from.

someone on here will know far more about it than me so i may be totally wrong

heres a thread i started a while ago, bottom of the page is what i'm refering to...http://vectra-c.com/forum/showthread...=116974&page=6

Yes - you do code the injectors into the ECU.. you need either Tech II or Vaux-Com, and you enter the Injector number that is printed on top of the injector into the ECU via either of the above two.

Thanks guys! I don't think it has had the mod tbh. On saturday the mechanic that changed them said that number 2 especially had become so brittle it " disintegrated in my hand once i took it out". Have to find someone of getting it started so I can bring it back to em ( theyre tow truck is off the road apparently)

    Thanks again,
    Rob

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys. I'm going to ring around a few places tomorrow. Not sure if I trust my mechanic anymore.
Anywho, I tried starting the car again tonight and the following happens

    * The car doesn't start
    * The warning lights flash on and off
    * the eml comes and so does the glow plug light and stay on until the key is removed.
    * the speedo needle vibrates rapidly 10 times.
    *the headlights flash 3 times
    * The LCD gives the following message
    Stability control malfunction -contact service
Traction control Malfunction - contact service
    Airbag malfunction - contact service
    Right front indicator malfunction
    right dipped headlight malfunction

The car is a 206 saab 93 but has the 1.9tdi 150 engine of the vectra etc.
Would that wiring mod be causing all this or the fact that the new injectors may not have been coded to the ECU?
    Any ideas a helpful one

    Thanks,
    robbie
