    Default Vectra C 1.9cdi Cambelt

    Hi,

My 1.9cdi is due a 100,000 mile service and I think it is due a cambelt change.

Do they change just the belt or the complete kit with
    tensioners etc ?

What sort of cost would this be in a garage?

    Many thanks

You are due a cambelt change at 100,000 miles. Most garages do the full kit change. This includes the belt, tensioners etc. I asked a few garages for a quote, most being just over £300 iirc.

    Alan,
also best to get the water pump changed, this will only add about £50 to the bill including new anti-freeze.

    Hi,

I did this job on my 2.0 Omega. Is the Omega ecotec engine similar? I've not had mine long enough to find out.

Assuming the engine layout is similar,Its not too bad a job with a workshop manual.

Big difference with the Omega is that the engine is mounted N/S with about a foot between the engine and the radiator.
The Vec is transverse with about 6 inches from the wing.
So whilst the job is essentially the same access makes it more of a pain.
At the end of the day its about ensuring timing marks are maintained.

There is a good 'How 2' on the site,

Also, get the auxiliary drive belt done at the same time.I know all these extras mount up cost wise, but its common sense to get them done as you will save dosh in the long run.FELIXX.
