In my pursuit to tidy the dashboard of my Vectra, i have been looking at various speed camera detection systems.
I finally decided on a 2nd hand Snooper Sapphire from the bay. Its nice and small, and has a good audio/visual for speed cams etc.
What i have done is flush fitted it to the drivers sun visor. Although its got a battery, it comes with a cable which can be hardwired onto a live feed. This can be fed through the visor and under the roof lining to make it invisable.
Getting it into the visor is easy enough, thinking the core of the visor would be compressed card or similar, i was suprised to find polystyrene!. I traced around the outline of the snooper and then cut inside the lines with a sharp knife gradually shaping the area until the snooper fitted nice and snug. Take care with the outter material, this can be tucked in and glued to give it a good finish.
If you are worried about it being on display when away from your vehicle, what you can then do is cut one edge of the small pocket flap bit on the otherside of the visor, and with a small amount of double sided velcro/hook & loop you can make a neat little flap which will cover up the snooper or whatever you decided to mount.
Sorry, but the pics are from my iPhone so not tht good, but you get the idea. Its not difficult, took me about 1/2 an hour. Think twice, cut once!!
As with most things... there is a downside.... When the visor is being used for its true purpose you cant see the screen!! But you can hear it so not all is lost!
