    Default CD30 connector plug problems

    Hi all,

I have been trying to sort out the wiring on my brothers Vectra C, 2005 model, the chap who had it before us had cut the CAN-Bus connector off and choc blocked an ISO connector in its place, so when I tried to re-install the CD30 there began the problem, there was no suitable plug for it, so I recently got a CAN-Bus connector or so I thought, but it does fit the CD30, its a blue ISO/CAN-Bus connector that I got from a chap I brought some doors off, but I didnt bother checking if it would fit as I assumed (how wrong was I ) that they would be the same, lol.

So where do I go from here please guys, any ideas what connector I need for the CD30 please.

    Thanks
    Mark

Get an ISO2CAR connector from halfords @ £29, or buy onr from autoleads or complexsolutions on the web, for as little as £16.

For the cd30, you require a quadlock connector, it has a funny lever mechanism on the back, to lath the plug onto the back of your head unit.

Do you need the wiring pin out for the cd30 aswell, as I have this saved somewhere - just let us know.

Here is one I found randomly

    sometimes called an SOT lead

    Robsey,

Thanks for the info, amazing when you know what the thing is called, lol.

So the blue connector I put back on tonight is correct, I am just missing the qaudlock connector?

i think I have found one at Halfords, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...5626&langId=-1

It would be good if you could find the pinout please, that will help.

    Thanks
    Mark

Here is a thread that I did ages ago...they are for the CD70, however the main block of 16 pins is the same across the board.

The only difference between the three sets of pin outs is that they are for GID screen, For nokia kit and basic

I assume the blue connector is a Fakra aerial plug.

In that case, yes you just need to make up the head-unit connector.

I assume you are refitting the original head-unit.

As any other head-unit will need to be paired up to the display to work.
This will need to be done by any garage with Tech 2.

    Another comment...
In your aftermarket radio loom, there will be a black wire that possibly runs from your cigar lighter.
This is for ignition live feed, which the CD30 does not use.

Therefore do not connect this to the Quadlock connector, and definately NOT to pin 11 which is the black mute wire.

Colour codes should match, however be careful not to cross the greens and whites.
One white and one green are speaker wire, but to confuse things, one green and white pair are for the CAN wires, which communicate to the display, and so to control all power, illumination etc functions.

Thanks Rob for the replies, just a quick question, there appears to be 2 pairs of thin green/white wires, is this correct?

I have the speaker wires wired in, they are a lot thicker.

    Thanks

If I remeber correctly, there should be just one "twisted" pair of green and white wires going to pins 9 and 10.
If you have a second set, then this slightly confuses me.

try each twisted pair (one pair at a time) - if the wire pair works , then the display will show radio station / cd track info. It will also react to the light switch etc.
Although unlikely, you may have two sets of CAN wires.
Assuming that they both operate the same network speed, then either pair will work easily well.

I could go into more technical detail about the CAN system but I wont unless you really want me to.

However there should be 3 sets !!! at the display end of things

    Display plug =
17 and 18 to electronic climate control
19 and 20 to radio head unit
22 and 23 to diagnostic socket

    Yep -

For the speaker in the middle of the dash, up near the wind-screen under the centre trim panel.

Look on the wiring pin out on my diagrams - on the linked thread.

    Pins 14 and 16
