    Default dash problemo ( light )

    i have a light in the dash with a car and a spanner i took it to a garage and put a diagnostic on it but it is still on it, any suggestions wot it cud be, the mechanic wiped the codes but it still wont budge any help would be appreciated

    The mechanic should of told you what the code was lol that way you can sort the problem out as its still showing
    Go back and ask him to read the code

    As don said, the code relates to whatever the problem is with the car. It's no good just reading and clearing the code, the problem needs to be rectified otherwise it'll keep putting the light on. Get him to read the fault code again and diagnose the problem. The code he reads will point him in the direction of where the fault is.

    Even easier, try the 'pedal test' to read the fault codes for yourself.

    Press and hold brake and accelerator pedals down as far as they will go with the ignition off.

    Switch ignition to position 2 so dash lights come on, but do NOT start the engine.

    Wait a few seconds - either the codes will appear in the mileage display as "ECN xxxx yy", or the engine management / spanner light will flash out the code to you.

    Example:-
    If it flashes ten times - pause - three - pause - three - pause - five, then the code stored is 0335.

    Post back here any codes you find...
