Default Problem with my CDR2005 stereo

My head unit is making some strange noise when inserting a CD..
its like the "sensor" that detects if a CD is inserted doesn't work very well and the rollers that sucks and ejects the cd are making some strange noice like a rattle.. (tick tick tick..)

I'm not sure if i explain the situation or does my explanation is actually more confusing that the solution..

I need to remove the head unit to see if something is loosen, obstructing or broken but i want to know how to build a stereo removal keys with a cloth hanger.

I found some pictures on the internet and tried to build ones but the stereo doesn´t come out so i belive that there is some special design or at least the original tools have a special tip.

Could someone tell me how to build ones that actually work?

I'll appreciate all coments and suggestions...

    Thnx.

    Talking

any old coat hangar, kebab skewers, etc will work. push them both in on each side to release the catches.

it will work, but the head unit is a really tight fit, so you'll have to wiggle it to get it loose.

i used a blunt knife to help lever it out!

Don't forget the little grub screws in the holes either.

Also you need to cut some small grooves in the ends of the removal tool as this is how they grip the stereo to pull it out. When you push the tools in, they will make a clicking sound as the grooves lock around the lugs, you can then start pulling.

You can buy a set of Double DIN pullers from Halfrauds for a few quid if you can't be ar*ed fabricating your own ones.

common fault im afriad. Mine did exactly the same thing on my 52 plate sri when i had it. luckily it was under netQ and was doing it the day i picked it up. Saleswoman said they all do it so i ignored it for a while. It then occured to me that it wasnt right, sometimes it wouldnt find the CD at all. So i took it back, described the symptoms and they replaced it with a brand new unit, no problems.

My 2006 has been faultless though.

    lol...

does anyone that has one set of this keys could take a picture of them and post it here to understand better the detail of the tips?

I will try again tonight but also i will go to a car stereo installer to see if they have a pair of those keys and help me releasing the head unit
