Well it was absolutely brilliant weekend at Silverstone and a big thanks to all who had a hand in organizing this event
Me and Baz 07 arrived on the Saturday about 9.30am found the stand and just walk away from the cars and had a good wonder around
Went down to the far end of the track and had a look at the Auto test
Which was a slalom circuit?
The lad who was in charge of Auto test was Paul Swift
A very very good driver in fact precision driver...link to Paul swift
1. Circuit slow with the instructor tell you the point's at which to hit
2. Fast as you can go with the clock running
You go around some cone's and then park the Astra VXR in a garage area, hard in reverse and spin the car a full 90% and then a 360% around a single cone and then finish on the line between two cone's
Cost of this £5.00 a go
Then we came across a row of VXR Insignia's, Astra's, Corsa's
Outside this building at the far end of the circuit
And a sign board saying
Me and Baz watched for a few moments and then Joe public came out with crash helmet's on and got in the passage side of the car's and took off on to the south end of the track.
So we thought that was it for 15min's of driving around Silverstone track with an instructor at the wheel
We filled the forms in and then for a briefing and a fitments
This is Emma who is a events manager for Vauxhall
I first met Emma 2006 at PVS on the Vauxhall/Irmscher stand.
Emma was in charge at all the events
Ready to go
The worst bit was after 2 laps we came in and I thought that is it
But no
We got back into the pits and swooped over and there it was
SILVERSTONE
In a insignia VXR... have it
So that was Saturday morning sorted
Of to the Pro-Am racing in VXR Corsa's around the Stowe circuit
And Louise Goodman doing the live committee and racing as well
This is the CEO of the Vauxhall BTCC and I had a good chat with him about what car's and when they are looking to get back in BTCC
Sunday
Met up with the lads on the stand and straight off to have a go in a Astra VXR and a Corsa VXR
Booked in again
Here's the Astra VXR I drove around Silverstone
and the Corsa VXR
Out of the two I loved the Corsa VXR its pocket rocket
but the Insignia VXR was brilliant
And next the N/West awnser to James May (top gear)
John had a go but we made his driving instrutor trun the Satnav on just in case he got lossed on some of the corner's
and i am just going to post the rest of the pic's up as they come
