    Default 2006 Vec SRI 1.8

    Hey Guys

I have a standard 1.8 SRI and I'm wanting to make some mods to it to give it abit more power. been looking at some of the posts but haven't come across anyone doing much to a 1.8.

Looking for some Idea's to see what I can do without having it off the road for any major length of time.

I know I can do basic stuff like change the air filter but I would love to remap it or even chip it if its possible and if anywhere in central Scotland that will do it.

    Any advise is welcome

    Thanks all

Think ppl have said it's not worth the money on a remap for the small gain you would get in power. First things to do are new airfilter, airbox mod, try using super unleaded, shell v-power etc instead of regular. Few small changes that may make a little difference. Have done them on mine and it does seem to make it a bit tighter to drive, bit more responsive. At the end of the day it's a heavy car with a smallish engine, so you'll be limited on how much more you can get from it.

Seriously sell it and buy a car with a bigger engine. It will be cheaper. Airbox mod is a placebo. Panel filter will give you 1bhp if your lucky.
Exhaust system with sports cat will give you about 5-8 bhp for about £700
Remap at £250 will give you probably about 8bhp
Its just not worth the outlay for 16bhp tops.

Thanks both, your right when you say its alot for not alot. its just not worth it

I have been looking into selling it and the most I can get is 4k, as for selling it private well there is just no one really buying cars at the moment from what I have seen.

Will have a think about it.

    Thanks again.

If I had one of those, I'd go for a panel filter and a remap. Would cost maybe £300 total if you shopped around (I got my map for £250 and am really happy with it) and would remove flat spots, etc. and make the car more responsive.

If you are after getting a car that's going to pull your head off though, forget it, sell up and buy another.
