Default How does a remaped 2.0T stack up against 9-3 AERO

Just wondering as Im in process of finalising tuning options for my 2.0T that consist of remap and exhaust (unsure if just cat back or full sytem and race cat) and air filter.

Just wondering what the figures would be post map.

I presume they would be simialr to standard figures on a 93 Aero.

    Any ideas?

indeed dependant on your engine and "mapper" selection it SHOULD be comparable circa 210-220 bhp ...or more dependant on how you progress the vehicle to stage 3,4, 5 etc

    Vehicle : Insignia Grand Sport

Stage 1 remap is in same ball park. I know of someone who got 266bhp on a rolling road with a BSR Stage 1 remapped 9-3 Aero.

So excuse my ignorance but what parts are different on the 93 aero compared to the veccy lump?

Are the parts the same and just the map different? I understand this engine is used with 3 power outputs for saabs, 150,175 & 210 bhp. But do any of the components differ?

Don't know about the 150PS and 175PS variants, but I seem to remember reading there are differences with the Aero. Certainly a bigger Turbo than the Garrett in the Vectra 2.0T and perhaps different injectors, if not more.

My 2.0t edition 100 was rolling roaded at 190bhp and that just with a cat back stainless exhaust fitted.
Craig who runs Gotboost in Llandow said it should see 220bhp with a progressive re-map and a bit more with an aggressive re-map.
Im saving for the progressive re-map.

Yes I was thinking manifold, racecat and downpipe followed by a steady map. Nothing too harsh as should not need to map it too high with the zorst sorted.

Just dont want my turbo goign pop lol.

If you can see 10bhp + from catback thats good going.

    Ps has anyone used superchips?

The differences are slightly different map and different (mitsubishi) turbo. Deztroyer fitted one to his Signum at the beginning of the year but what with his remap and his engine doing over 100k i think it was a bit much and damaged a valve in the dump valve. so he reverted back to standard, sold it and bought himself a 2.8T. Allthough these engines are pretty much the same there seem to be quite a few differences meaning that not all Saab parts are just bolt on. Probably the best people to speak to about this engine are Neo Bros in Waltham Cross, Herts. They've been tuning these engines on the Saab scene for donkeys years and really know there stuff. They've even got a Caterham style motor running something silly like 350BHP out of the Z20NET engine.

I looked at the 2.8 Ts but bar the VXRs they all were automatics (I pref manual), and the times to 60 for the 230 bhp were like 7.8 over the 8.1 of my sri. Appreciate more trq etc etc, but for the autobox, additional insurance and fuel I could nt do it.

Now had I have found a manual 2.8T I would more than likely have got it LOL.

From memory the Aero has a Mitsubishi TD-04 unit that is quite potent but fragile when not oil changed properly the block is also strengthened coolant passages different the head is very similar but again Saab re-worked it, the ECU is different and the exhaust is fully gas flowed.

However I do know that Vx went on to buy in the same engines for the Astra VXR
