    Default Damn it!!

Picked up some new SRI wheels at the weekend (cheers Ian) to finally replace my horrid SXI ones.

Thought i might as well paint calipers (decided on red) at the same time, all was going well had one side done, came to taking the last wheel off and the locking nut key snapped!!! so now had to put old wheels back on so car can be taken somewhere to get the locking nut removed.

I know this seems to be a reoccuring theme at the moment with locking keys / nut........some solutions a bit to drastic for my liking!
Is the best bet to take it to Cresser and just get them to loosen it, and replace with a standard bolt, don't want to wait around for new key.

Or would any hi-q etc be able to sort it??

and this only hours after signing up as full member.........have i been cursed

DONT hammer a socket over it, happend to me, your best bet is either a locking wheel nut remover, or just wait for your replacement key from VX

i ended loosing a decent wheel through this , had to be angle grinded off

When you say snapped do you mean the key part has bent, so it just pushes off when you turn it? If so then park the car next to a wall and jack the key onto the nut with a tyre iron.

Something that has always worked for me is to spot weld a normal bold onto the head of the lock bolt. You get a tiny burn on the inside of nut hole but its cheap and easy to get rid of the horrid lock nuts that Vx supply uou with. I usually take it to a local garage. This has happened to me a few times on a few different cars. I also usually find that when I damage the lock nut key, I have usually caused some damage to bolt head aswell, so best solution for me.

    Bye bye Vec B
