Default 3.2 V6 GSI - looking on buying.

    Hello people,

    long time no post.

Got rid of my signum 1.9 cdti. miss it like hell but now im looking for another vauxhall and I think im gonna get an ex police 3.2 v6 on around 04 plate.

Any one got one and have any advice on them like should I get it or not?

And if anyone knows what theyre chipped too would be good.

Turning 21 soon so insurance isnt too bad still looking on 2 grand but thats not too bad for the engine capacity that would fit a few small children in haha!

No they are not chipped normally. Why an ex police one? they are a lower than sri spec most of the time when a proper gsi or 3.2 elite are also good value!

    Not forgetting the 2.0T

just px'ed my GSi and got 2k for it. FSH and 85k on the clock.

I am the proud owner of a GSi 3.2. I absolutely love the car!

It is smooth, powerful and responsive in the engine department. The manual transmission is a bit slow-witted at times but there is a reduced throw linkage kit available somewhere. It doesn't bother me that much, though. The performance, though, as the engine gets on-cam, is something else! It is responsive from idle upwards but not as quick as some other Vectras - especially the diesels, I'd think. But once past 2000 rpm, it's mental!

Petrol consumption is heavy, as you would expect from a 3.2 V6. Nevertheless, I can get over 36 mpg on motorways and fast B-roads! In town, I can still get over 27 mpg, driving reasonably conscientiously.

The GSi is exceptionally comfortable too. Possibly the most comfortable car I have ever driven! And the boot space in our Vectras is awesome. It always surprises non-believers!

The car has only let me down once, when a front suspension spring broke. Crappy VX springs are a known weakness on Vectras and other vehicles too, though. I now have Eibach Sport Springs and they transform the handling and are in a different league regarding strength! Much thicker steel. The mass air flow sensor recently flagged a fault code too, so I replaced that (£22 on eBay and a bit of luck). The fault code lingered for a while but has gone now and the engine is better than ever! Very punchy indeed!

The handling is good too. I want to upgrade to Bilstein B6 shock absorbers but only because I am me! It grips furiously and tracks nicely, with sufficient agility to change line mid-bend: quite a trick for a big old car! Tyres make a big difference, though; my current "Sunews" (£50/corner) are not great and, in the wet, a bit scary. If I could afford it, I'd fit Michelin Pilot Primacies all round tomorrow and be done with it.

I have done over 62k miles in my beloved GSi and I have no plans to change the car. Fuel costs continue to rise but, in my view, it's worth the drain on resources to drive something that feels so special to me. Okay, "it's just a Vectra," but that's what other people see. To me, it's a brilliant all-round sports saloon with immense performance and is lovely to drive.

Buy one. You will not be sorry! If you have any further questions, just ask!

The 3.2 is an absolutely brilliant car with great performance.

I wouldnt opt for a police spec though, as already said they are a much lower spec than the normal GSi models. If you keep your eyes open, you can normally find a good model with full leather and additional extras like sat nav etc. Mine has every single factory, even down to the sunroof and yet it was the 2nd cheapest i found at the time... And i have owned it for around 15month now and only had to change a front spring and crank sensor... runs like a dream

Full leather could be hard to find on a GSi as the standard was half leather. The Elite will have full leather and more toys and it is easy to change the springs.
