Default If i Take it out will it?

If i remove this much spoken of plastic insert in my airbox and bearing in mind i've a BMC panel filter, will it increase 'Poke' or combustion to such a degree that it is noticeable? or is it just a myth that it makes any difference at all?
The how to's show how to but there doesn't seem to be a convincing argument around removing it.... Any input would be apprecitated gents/ladies....

alot of people have said that it actually does help the pick of the car, but i think the benefits vary depending on which engine you have. I can't say that it was a noticeable difference for my car, but i did it at the same time as i did the K&N panel filter swap so it's hard to ascertain what the car is benefiting from, the new air filter or the removed plastic thing.

give it a go, its not difficult to do, and if you don't see any change, chuck it back in!

I cant tell you about power or pick up, but just take a look at the bottom of your filter, its only doing the work on one side. Get rid of the plastic and the hole filter gets to work, more area = more efficent.

Mine seems to roar and gurgle a little more and the turbo whistle is more pronounced ... which is nice It does also seem to pick up a little better in 1st gear but this could be my immagination. I haven't changed my air filter yet - just removed the plastic ... I'm still looking around to find the cheapest K & N Filter I can ... cheapest I've seen so far is £44

Nice one Chaps, will remove it and give it a go. Thing is I've recently put in a new filter. The guys at Triple Six in Middlebrough recomended i go for a BMC instead of a K&N. This apparently of the BMC's Gel like rubber surround that allegedly gives a better seal than K&N?????? Hmm Well i thought why not £52,in for a penny etc.Well i'm happy to report its the DOGS DANGELYS!!!! The flat spot at around 52mph up in 4th is has almost been wiped out .Until I fitted it my old 1.6 Astra with air induction would have got from 50 to 70 quicker, and considering i'm now running a 2.2 Sri i did expect more. So i gave her a good run down to the family in Wales and she was top banana, much more keen, and just didn't know when to stop eating TDI's!!!!!! Lol (Boras etc etc) The best bit was when i arrived back to the homeland.Drove along my fav lane The Old Llantrisant Road from Cardiff to Talbot Green(The Welsh lads on here will know this one!!) Arrived up the back end of a 3 yearold 320 AMG Merc, who upon sighting me decided to give it some, the best bit? He couldn't shake me off his back end!! Great Stuff and a good start to the weekend!!!! Try BMC see what you think....
