    Default V6 Cdti

Took a 05 v6 cdti sri out for a spin today as the local dealer has one sat on the lot, car in ok condition, not good enough for me but really the engine is the star off the show.
Always thought they would be good but was even better than i thought, just gotta find a mint one now. The vvt felt limp afterwards thats for sure lol.

    What was wrong with it?
Did you test the service indicator, to see how long left to next service?

Worn drivers seat, front bumper heavy stone chips, fag burn in head lining, non network q warranty on a 58k car at a main dealer, driven hard front tyres, tracking out, worn rear discs, full history but non vx and they wanted top money for the car, yes i am fussy.

12K miles a year and it was in that state...

In the photos it looks OK
    I can't see any stonechips
The drivers seat looks OK, but the photos aren't that good on which to make an opinion
Tyres and brakes don't last long on the 3.0 V6 CDTI, compared to other engines, however 60K miles for the rear discs is a typical lifespan

Tracking is easily adjusted, once new front tyres have been fitted

    All those points are minor

As for the service, it would only have needed two services so far, typically 2007, 2009

I do agree though £5500 is a tad high, I'd be looking at £4500
Alternatively have the VX Complete Protection Plan added and I would pay £5100

Given that he was there and saw the whole car in the flesh in and out he obviously is in a position to give his opinion on it, which he has!

See above. He's said he's fussy about things, so why go for something he's not happy with when there's plenty more out there?

Must be smaller rocks down south to look under
Either that or 3.0 V6 CDTI are becoming more common in the used markets now
So far (in just over three years) I am up to about just 50 locally that I have seen for sale, compare that to other engines, such as the 1.9 CDTI you can get 50 in just 1 day!

Yes in the photo's i agree it looks fine which is why i went to see it, as i said its not awful, just abit more worn than i would off expected given the mileage, my 113k 07 was in better condition and thats driven hard but really taken care off.

from my experience the 3.0 doesn't fetch much (if any) more than a 150 1.9. And I owned one for 4 years, so I know just how good they are, but the size of the engine puts some off.

Do be picky & get the one you want. I traded my 05 3.0 sri Estate last december for £4500 and I think oly had about 50k with full VXL history. They just don't fetch what they should.
