    Default Cloudy headlamp covers

The headlamp covers on my Vectra are cloudy for the top 30% or so. This is annoying because they are otherwise okay.

Not being terribly flush at the moment, is there anything I can do to remedy this? Can you get just the covers for the headlamps or am I looking at a replacement pair of headlamps, which being discharge units, aren't going to be particularly inexpensive.

When my headlamps are sorted, I've got some eyebrows to fit...

    Anyone?

Okay, I read through it all (at speed) twice and missed anything about cloudy headlamp covers. Am I being a dunce?

I was getting the impression that claying, along with suitable lubrication, may be the way ahead. Was that the intended message, BigSig? Claying is new to me and something I want to try. My GSi is like swirl city!

The clouding you are talking about is caused by UV from the sun tarnishing the plastic and is common as **** on the pre face vec. I had it bad on my drivers side and ended up replacing the whole light unit with a good second hand one from ebay.
I tried all sorts of things on myu old headlight to try and remedy it incase it happens again and nothing worked. I used a rubbing compound the lot and nothing worked.

If yours are xenons you can always remove the internals and put them in a non xenon headlamp. the headlight i got came with no bulbs or anything. The breaker even removed the leveling motor which i had to take out of my old headlight and put in the new one.

Big sig did you post the right link? There are a couple of threads on here about polishing up plastic headlights just cant seem to find them, but found 2 links for you, exactly the same idea. Its just one of those "Be brave" and do it ones.

Well from that it looks like it can be done but you will need a machine polisher and some rubbing compound.
Personally i would spray it with clear laquer after to seal it.

Mine are pretty clear, was considering getting headlight covers for them to help keep them that way. Anyone here have them fitted?
