    Default Front wiper problems

Hello There. I have recently started to have a problem with the front wiper function of my CDTi150 estate (2005). On intermitent and slow spreeds the blades would move across the screen in a jerky manner and just stop at any random point in their movement. Now they do not work at all in these slow speed motions but full speed is absolutely fine and is the only setting I can use it on. If it works on fast it suggests to me the motor and lonkage must be fine. I presume there isn something controlling speed like a relay? Anyone know where it is or what it could be? The screen was motor does not work either unless fast speed on wipers is going too !!

    Cheers

    Default front wiper motor

my front wipers packed up last month. initially took it to a local auto electricians. they pluggeg it in and came back with nearly a grands worth of repairs. new motor, linkage and a S E N unit. they actually advised me to take it to a vauxhall dealer because they were unable to re-programme the unit and would charge me to tow the vehicle to the dealer for programming. my advice would be to take it and have it diagnosed. if it is thr S E N unit its quite expensive. i got away with a new motor and linkage it worked out a £324. good luck.

There are lots of threads on here relating to this issue. It mostly seems to happen when it's very cold (i.e. below zero).

The motors are 95% to blame & are less than £70 new off ebay and it is a common problem just like on the corsa C's, it is a copper arm inside the motor that snaps off then the motor doesn't know the correct place to stop even though sometimes it will work on other speeds, takes about 1 1/2 hours to change.

i think you'll find that if its very cold, and your screenwash is diluted then it can freeze in the pump / outlet pipe. if this happens the wipers will fault in the way you describe.

On cold mornings i make an old 500ml coke bottle up with 50% wash 50% warm water. this has cured this problem now

hope this is the cause of your problem

but at least its a cheap and quick fix before you go to the garage

I have the same problem!! I took it to Vauxhall this morning, who told me to buy a new fuse. After reading these posts, I can argue the toss with them now. Brilliant
