    Default Cdti fuel filter

Hi doing a service on the vec this week just got some mobil 1 0w40 fully synth. For it and oil filter for 40quid delivered with opie oils and it's 5 litres

Bought a fuel filter off eBay I have read the how 2 and every one says don't break the black tabs on the pipes when you take them off I though it's just a case of getting a screwdriver in pushing in the locking button at both sides then pulling the pipe off

Can any one help me or give some advice for thus as it's my 1st time for a fuel filter change cheers guys

    Hi

I did mine recently, there is a clip on the front and backside of the pipe which both need to be pressed simultaneously. I think VX have a tool for this but its perfectly doable with a small flatblade screwdriver. Go gently and i can't see you having a problem at all. The worst bit is going to be getting that damn lid off!! ;-) i used a gripper thingy and it really did require some brute force.

    Enjoy!!

Pretty sure the engine takes more than 5 litres of oil too.

    Vehicle : CDTI 150

    Trim : Design

    Engine : Z19DTH

    Year : 2005

    Default

CDTI takes 4.3 ltrs and the DTI 5.5 ltrs.

As danman says just take care with a flat bladed, a bit at a time.
Agree, the securing ring can be a pain to remove.

    Hope it goes well

Hi guys took my fuel filter out using 2 small screwdrivers to take of the fuel pipes then the filter poped out of the housing and took of the electrical plug

Drained the fuel via the tap then put
    In vice managed to
Undo lid by hand took out filter but problem is the new one I ordered is the wrong
One so had to put old one back in

I ordered it off eBay for my car exact write up but re fuel filter turne up is pleated paper and has a hole at either end where as the one that is fitted is like cotton wool with embossed circles and one hole at one end so
    Must be wrong

Will be getting the correct one tomorrow from halfords ad sending the wrong one back

    hi

its probably ok. the white one with emossed circles is the GM one - turkish made i think

I've used a pleated one when i replaced my GM one and it works fine.

just depends what they supply i guess
